Building Resources and Information

Regulated Wastes at Medical Science 1 Building

The following waste streams are regulated at the University of Michigan. These items CANNOT be disposed in the general trash and must be recycled.

BATTERIES – All types and sizes
--Dispose in battery buckets found in the department head offices. Please contact the Medical School Facility Management Office for assistance in locating buckets.

--Call HazMat for pick up of battery buckets  - 763-4568

 

LIGHT BULBS – All types and sizes, including compact fluorescent, UV, projector bulbs, high intensity discharge bulbs, mercury-vapor and incandescent bulbs.

--Call Zone Maintenance to pick up light bulbs -- 647-2059

 

ELECTRONIC WASTE – All devices operated by electricity that contain circuit boards (i.e. anything with a cord, digital display or battery) such as computers and accessories, telephones, cell phones, PDAs, remote controls, microwaves, televisions, cables, etc.

-- Non-working electronic items can be disposed in the gaylord box on DOCK 2.

-- All working electronic items of value can be taken to Property Disposition -- 764-2470.
