Excellence in Sustainability Honors Cord

The Excellence in Sustainability Honors Cord program is designed to recognize students who have gone above and beyond to advance their knowledge, skills, and practice of sustainability ethics while studying at U-M. This program is supported by Student Life Sustainability.

Eligibility

To qualify for the Excellence in Sustainability Honors Cord program, students must engage in a range of sustainability-related activities, programs, internships, jobs, or academic coursework that support interdisciplinary learning.

  • Receive an Excellence in Sustainability Honors Cord for graduation.
  • Join an exclusive alumni LinkedIn Network.
  • Be part of a sustainability action on campus.

Eligible students earned at least 10 points from a list of approved sustainability activities, listed below. These activities are frequently updated, though not exhaustive—students are encouraged to submit additional activities for consideration during the application process.

Sustainable Action

To receive the Excellence in Sustainability Honors Cord, students must accrue 10 points from the following activities. Students are encouraged to submit additional activities for consideration during the application process. Application deadlines for the academic year 2025-2026

  • Winter Commencement deadline: November 21, 2025.

    • Cord pickup will be scheduled for the second week of December on the Ann Arbor campus.
  • Spring Commencement deadline: April 10, 2026.

    • Cord pickup will be scheduled for the last week of April on the Ann Arbor campus.
