Bike Resources

Ever wanted to get more involved with biking on campus, but felt overwhelmed on where to start? Check out the resources below!

For new bikers, head to Common Cycle to meet other passionate cyclists in Ann Arbor and purchase a bicycle! Alternatively, purchase a bike in need of repair and spend time over the weekend repairing it with trusted staff. Or consider purchasing a new bicycle from a variety of local bike shops in the area. If you’re not looking to buy a bike quite yet, head over to Adventure Leadership from the Recreational Department to rent a Blue Bike!

For those that use bikes primarily for transportation, consider registering your bike with DPSS to help deter theft. When taking a bike to and from class, there’s over 8,500 bike parking spaces across campus to fit your needs. Outdoor, indoor, and locker parking are all available from Logistics, Transportation, and Parking.

Not sure about the proper way to navigate the streets of Ann Arbor? Start with the Winter Bike Maintenance Guide to learn tips and tricks for daily riding during winter months. Read over this safety guide from the Logistics, Transportation, and Parking to learn the best ways to ride a bike on campus and in Ann Arbor. Then explore events and workspaces hosted by Common Cycle and the Bike Alliance of Washtenaw to meet fellow cyclists.

In need of a bike repair? Start at the Planet Blue Student Leaders’s Winter Bike Maintenance guide. This guide is a great starting point to learn about daily maintenance and larger repairs. For more tools, Common Cycle offers workshop spaces on Sunday to work with volunteers to repair bikes. In need of a bike tool set? Common Cycle partnered with the Ann Arbor District Library to curate a number of reservable sets. Check out a kit or explore what's in the Toolkit. For those who just need air in the tires, head to a Repair Stand on Campus or one of U-M libraries for a free bike pump!

Wolverines on Wheels

Looking to be a part of a bike club on campus? Consider joining Wolverines on Wheels (WoW), which is dedicated to building a safe, accessible, and sustainable bicycling community as a sponsored student organization on the Ann Arbor campus. The group aims to support and advocate for all members of the Ann Arbor bicycling community and ensure that students, faculty, and staff can benefit from and contribute to a bike-friendly campus.

Wherever you’re starting from and wherever you want to go on your biking journey, pedal further and join Wolverines on Wheels--campus’s newest community for biking. Follow their Instagram and access their linktree for more information about group rides and club meetings that are open to all.

At the bi-weekly meetings, everyone is free to contribute ideas towards the next event, whether it be a group ride, a pop-up, or anything else you can think of to promote a bike-friendly campus future. Look at the public Google Calendar for updated details and dates.
